Please help us get a dialogue started with the university!
We are a coalition of human rights and peace organizations concerned about the university extending Kagame more privilege and power in the face of his military aggression in Congo and political oppression within his own country. On Friday the 16th, 4-8 PM we are demonstrating public disapproval of CMU's collaboration with Kagame.
The organizer listed on our demonstration permit, and the national spokesperson for Friends of Congo, is Kambale Musavuli. Kambale has been talking with university officials and they have agreed to meet with him and discuss the issue at hand. This is a very positive development and an important dialogue to foster.

One problem: we are having an issue with transportation. We have a way to get Kambale here, but no easy way to get him back to NYC on Saturday in time for his conference at noon. There's a flight that will work, but we need people to pitch in a little money to make it happen. Activists don't exactly get paid very well to advocate for people, so he doesn't have the disposable income to hop on a plane whenever he wants. Meanwhile, this is important work that will affect millions of people in the Great Lakes region of Africa--Rwanda, Congo, and Uganda.
We need a strong, informed voice to educate the university and help hold it (and, by proxy, Kagame) accountable for how they effect the great lakes region of Africa.
I found a flight for $200. If you can pitch in $5 or $10, we'll get there in no time. Please contribute if you can!
